The total capacity of the existing shore tanks (including excise warehouse) is 18000 cbm, which consists of:

- 2 shore tanks x 2000 cbm;
- 3 shore tanks x 3000 cbm;
- 1 shore tank x 5000 cbm.


GI Terminal allows clients to; 1) discharge products from railtank cars; 2) accumulate products in terminal shore tanks; 3) load products into vessels, rail tank cars, tanker trucks, flexi-tanks and isotanks.

All shore tanks are heatable, equipped with product circulation and a blending system. Additionally, shore tanks and shore tank park pipe lines are covered with a special coating that allows them to pour and store various liquid petroleum chemicals. Thanks to internal coating, 4 of the 6 shore tanks are resistant, in addition to various petrochemicals, to methanol.

The new boiler house is equipped with a natural gas boiler, with a capacity of 2.5 MW. It produces steam for oil and other product heating (up to 70°C degrees). The boiler house was built with the future possibility of doubling its capacity.

The pumping station is newly built with 6 different pumps.

The entire terminal is equipped with a vapour balance system. Vapour collection is performed from the shore tank farm, tank truck loading area, rail tank car discharge rack and berth for vessel loading.  All vapours are colleted in vapour recuperation unit.

A nitrogen station. For petrochemical product storage a “nitrogen pillow” may be used in each shore tank to reduce emissions, and nitrogen is used for export cargo line cleaning with the “pigging” system. Nitrogen, during petrochemicals storage, can be used to protect the product from the ambient moisture absorbency.

The Terminal has its own berth No. 28 to import/export oil from/to the ships, which is located on the south side of Karosta Channel.  The depth of the Karosta Channel berth is 7.4 meters, which allows to take all ships with deadweight no more than 14 000 DW (T).
